21 Days of Downsizing – Day 11

Welcome to my 21 day series of downsizing my NYC shoebox apartment for a move to Australia! Alex + I have already downsized about 70% of our belongings, but I’ve got some “on the fence” items from my closet and I could use a bit of help!

If you know me well, you know that while I’ve come around on downsizing my fashuun, I will *gulp* NEVER downsize my stuffed animals. Cuz #crazystuffedanimallady

So, tune in to help me decide what closet items to keep or not to keep! Simultaneously, I’ll introduce you to one of my stuffed animal friends, cuz I could NEVER downsize them!

Welcomes and Goodbyes

Some places get overlooked the most when we see them everyday. Case in point: my apartment lobby, mailroom and sitting + entrance area. I’ll really miss you guys. You were there to greet me each time anytime I came or went. I didn’t see you for eight weeks straight in 2020 when we stayed in from mid March to May, but it’s good to see you again more regularly. Now we’re leaving you in two weeks. Thanks for your welcomes + goodbyes.

Day 11 – Matchmaker, Matchmaker, Make Me a Patch

Meet Patch.

Patch’s parents always thought they would become the parents of a cozy quilt, a pair of jeans or an eclectic denim jacket. Never in their wildest minds did they think their daughter would become a stuffed bunny.

Patch’s mum was a large piece of patchwork fabric with loads of personality. She could always adapt to any mood, whether it was a sad stripe type of day, a funny floral morning or a pleased plaid weekend. Patch’s mum was named Quinn.

Patch’s dad was a set of two large black faceted buttons. He always thought that he would fulfill his destiny as a fastener, a zip-fly alternative or live the easy life down the center of an unbuttoned jacket.  Patch’s dad was named Stud.

So the day Quinn and Stud met one another inside a shopping basket, they couldn’t possibly know that just 24 hours later, Alex would be tracing out the outline of a bunny pattern on Quinn while Alex’s mum would be sewing Quinn together and attaching Stud as two curious and loveable bunny eyes.

You see, in 24 hours Alex was set to fly to NYC for a four week trip to see Christina and he had decided he wanted to make a bunny for his bunny. So off he went with Patch in his backpack on his flight, taking with him Quinn and Stud’s bunny daughter.

Never in their lives did Quinn and Stud think they’d have a bunny as a daughter.

Never in Patch’s life did she think she’d become Alex’s travel pillow.
