21 Days of Downsizing: Day 2
Welcome to my 21 day series of downsizing my NYC shoebox apartment for a move to Australia! Alex + I have already downsized about 70% of our belongings, but I’ve got some “on the fence” items from my closet and I could use a bit of help!
If you know me well, you know that while I’ve come around on downsizing my fashuun, I will *gulp* NEVER downsize my stuffed animals. Cuz #crazystuffedanimallady
So, tune in to help me decide what closet items to keep or not to keep! Simultaneously, I’ll introduce you to one of my stuffed animal friends, cuz I could NEVER downsize them!
Day 2 – Icy Hues Have My Seal of Approval
Meet Sal.
Sal hails from LaGuardia Airport. While Sal loved to observe all the hurried travelers buying sundries in the upstairs bookstore, she often felt overlooked. Sitting on a pile of books on a table adjacent to the magazines, Sal often chatted with her doggo friend. They’d observe the catwalk of leisure wearers to business peeps in suits to the cleaning staff in uniforms shutting down the shop during off-peak hours.
One day in June 2011, Sal and her dog friend were picked up by two eager hands. “Hmmm, these two look uber cuddly,” thought Christina, who was on a biz trip. Christina scooped up both adiboos, lining up at the register with Cheez-Itz in hand.
Back in WI, Christina’s mom was very ill and living in hospice. Christina’s boss had kindly told Christina she could sit out this market trip, but Christina’s mom had insisted she go.
Sal perched herself into a new home, one with serene surroundings, hard-working nurses, floral arrangements and beaming sunlight while witnessing tears of sadness. She sat by Christina’s mom for her final weeks, providing love, support, solace and smiles.
Now for Fashuun: To Keep or Not To Keep

- a bleach-washed denim jacket that’s slightly oversized (wearing four layers under it)
- a pair of lavender biker shorts where the color is a love but the fabric is not – p.s. please also comment on your thoughts of biker shorts over tights for the winter
- my beloved minty green backpack for carrying my laptop when we were all still going into the office…my coworker named him Robbie like a robot cuz he has a “face” so I kinda want to keep him
- these super comfy lavender Skechers that I find kinda chic despite popular opinion but one can only pack so many shoes for an international move
- a scarf that’s whimsical in print + versatile in foldability but tbh static clingy AF in feel
