21 Days of Downsizing – Day 10
Welcome to my 21 day series of downsizing my NYC shoebox apartment for a move to Australia! Alex + I have already downsized about 70% of our belongings, but I’ve got some “on the fence” items from my closet and I could use a bit of help!
If you know me well, you know that while I’ve come around on downsizing my fashuun, I will *gulp* NEVER downsize my stuffed animals. Cuz #crazystuffedanimallady
So, tune in to help me decide what closet items to keep or not to keep! Simultaneously, I’ll introduce you to one of my stuffed animal friends, cuz I could NEVER downsize them!
Goodbye, My Unicorn Apartment
I’m really going to miss our shoebox apartment. I remember sweeping the city for a place with a view + found this gem. No closets, tiny kitchen, 400 square ft. But a large terrace with views of the Chrysler Building, East River + skyline silhouette…SOLD!
Now we’re downsizing to leave it.
So intense. So thankful.
Day 10 – Icing on the Carrot Cake
Meet 大白兔 (DBT for short).
DBT lives in a forested area in a large carrot-shaped house with its point funneled deep underground and its carrot-top fronds peaking out above the canopy. It’s the place where all the adiboos gather for the best bakery items.
You see, DBT absolutely loves to bake. And her speciality is the cinnamon roll.
Heading to the basement where she houses multiple grains in barrels and the most interesting of ingredients in the ultimate “Chopped”-kitchen-times-100 pantry, DBT will conjure up her best recipes.
The design of DBT’s abode is quite intentional. With a large spiraling staircase from subterranean to veranda levels leading up to the rooftop terrace, DBT will work up her appetite and get her workout in by the time she’s transported all her baking ingredients to her top-level kitchen.
When wafts of buttery, vanilla-y, cinnamon-y aromas fill the canopy atmosphere, all of the adiboos in Adibooland immediately knew it was time to visit DBT.
The adiboos of the land would sprint quickly to knock on DBT’s door hidden amongst all the vines, hoping she would run down to answer their hurried knocks.
The adiboos of the sky would follow their noses and fly a direct beeline to DBT’s rooftop terrace, outpacing their land-sprinting friends, thereby getting first dibs on their favorite baked goods.
In the first 6 months of DBT’s arrival, 80% of the land-walking adiboos decided to take flying lessons.
Now For Fashuun: To Keep or Not To Keep
